Raking Arm
Introduction to Raking Arm
Raking Arm is a special type of an agitator installed in the Lauter Tun Vessel to facilitate the filtration of Mash (a slurry fluid). Its basic function is to maintain desired porosity of the Mash bed while the filteration is in progress. For Large (industrial scale) Lauter Tun Vessel it is also used to discharge the Spent Grains after completion of the Filtration process.
Construction of Raking Arm
At VEP ENGINEERING we classify Raking Arms into 3 categories, viz -
Raking Arm for Micro-Breweries
They are generally from 0.7m to 1.5m size.
They can be Top-Mounted or Bottom Mounted.
Raking Arm for Craft-Breweries
Raking Arm for Industrial-Breweries
OUR Raking Arms used for Micro-Breweries & Craft-Breweries may or may not have reciprocating UP-DOWN motion depending on Customer choice. However, Raking Arms used for Industrial-Breweries need reciprocating UP-DOWN motion to operate the Sweeping Mechanism.
OUR Raking Arm and Mash Kettle Agitators for microbreweries have been refined to make them compact. Hence, they can be fitted into low height areas also.
OUR Raking Arms for Craft-Breweries (with lesser no. of Brews per day) have been optimized to manual sweeper actuation (latch-delatch) thereby reducing the capital investment and yet achieve the sweeping performance without laborious manual intervention.
At VEP ENGINEERING we have designed solutions for Raking Arms where automated sweeper actuation (latch-delatch) is required but are having low available bottom height.
Our Raking Arms for Commercial Breweries have been designed to provide latching height of upto 500mm as per customer needs to ensure that the mash-bed is not disturbed during deep-cut.
